A Promise to Creativity

by Jenna P

In 2022, when it comes to my creativity, I promise to constantly choose to view it:

as a gift,

as an always present force,

as a versatile, flexible, expandable, valuable commodity,

as a unique contribution to celebrate and encourage.

I will do this by:

-       Inviting in creative input and musings on walks, in nature, in the shower, in moments between dreams, in time in bed without phones, on commutes

-       Encouraging ideas to marinate, simmer, stew, and come to a boil.

-       Acknowledging dips in the road as part of the process.

-       Releasing fear

-       Replacing fear with connectivity

-       Reminding myself that by putting myself out there, the only thing I risk is connecting with others.

-       Practicing vulnerability. Practicing imperfection. Practicing not knowing.

I will encourage creativity with:

-       External deadlines

-       Opportunities for collaboration

-       Asking my trusted sources for help

-       Purposely putting myself in states of flow

-       Leaving white space on my calendar and in my life

-       Allowing room for serendipity

What do you promise to creativity?
