Leave Room for Serendipity

Are you addicted to your google calendar too or is it just me?

When we fill our days of colored blocks of activities, meetings, obligations, we don’t give ourselves room for chance.

We forget to leave room for discovery, for in the moment spontaneity, for hearing signs from within ourselves, from the universe, etc.

Think about it: how many times have you had an amazing idea while taking a shower?

Tim Russell recommended an incredible book to me a few years ago called Bored and Brilliant. The premise is that you can’t be your most creative self if you don’t leave yourself room to daydream, to brainstorm, to think and let your mind wander.

Look at your calendar for the next few days….

Where can you add in some white space?

Where can you carve out some magic time and let whatever creative impulses arise express themselves?

You’ll be amazed at what you can hear when you give yourself the space to listen.
